Renee Kruger, MA, CCC
With a foundation of more than 25 years in frontline healthcare, Renee Kruger brings a unique depth of experience to her work as a counsellor in Calgary. Before training as a therapist, she worked as a nurse in emergency departments, palliative care, addiction recovery, and remote communities across Canada. That experience shapes her understanding of how stress, loss, and trauma impact both body and mind.
Renee is a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) and Clinical Traumatologist. She supports individuals, couples, families, and youth (12+), offering trauma recovery, grief support, chronic illness counselling, and care for those experiencing compassion fatigue. She is especially connected to first responders and caregivers, who often feel more comfortable with someone who understands the realities of frontline work.
Renee adapts her approach to each client instead of applying a one-size-fits-all model. She draws from CBT, DBT, mindfulness, family systems therapy, and somatic map-and-release. Clients describe her as authentic and straightforward — able to sit quietly when needed, provide practical tools for daily life, and meet people where they are.
In spring, she will add play therapy training to expand her work with younger children. For Renee, therapy is not about rushing to solutions. It is about creating a safe, respectful space where people feel seen, heard, and supported as they work toward meaningful change.
