Tracy Firth, MA, CCC, Provisional Psychologist

You don’t need to have it all figured out before you start.

I became a psychologist because I’m genuinely interested in people, how we think, how we adapt, and how we make sense of what life hands us. Therapy, to me, is about creating space to pause and look at things differently. You don’t need to have it all figured out before you start. Sometimes, we just need someone to help us see ourselves and our situation from a new angle.

Clients often describe me as straightforward, thoughtful, and a bit funny. I’m not one to gloss over the hard stuff; I believe in the kind of hope that grows from perspective, not perfection. I’ll meet you where you are, and together we’ll look at what’s working, what’s not, and what might need to shift.

Many of my clients come to therapy carrying stress, self-doubt, or the weight of expectations. Some are navigating ADHD, often diagnosed later in life, and trying to understand what that means for how they see themselves. Others are professionals feeling burned out or disconnected from what used to matter. Whether you meet with me in person at our Calgary office or online from elsewhere in Alberta, my role is to help you reconnect with your own judgment, resilience, and sense of purpose.

Over time, I’ve learned that real change rarely happens all at once. It shows up in moments, the first time you speak to yourself with more compassion, or when something that once felt overwhelming starts to make sense. Those are the moments I value most. My clients often tell me they appreciate that I don’t rush the process. I’m here for the steady work of untangling what’s beneath the surface and helping you build insight you can actually use.

My path to psychology has grown through almost three decades of work in mental health and behaviour management, along with the lessons that come from building a meaningful life over time. That experience shaped how I practice now. My approach is grounded, collaborative, and realistic. I draw from cognitive-behavioural and strength-based approaches, with an interest in how our thoughts, bodies, and environments interact. My work also includes exploring the role of sleep, stress, and lifestyle in overall wellbeing.

Therapy with me isn’t about quick fixes or endless analysis. It’s about understanding yourself well enough to make meaningful choices. My hope is that you leave each session feeling seen, challenged when needed, and a little more hopeful than when you came in.
