Shauna Cowan, MSW, RSW

Life can feel overwhelming sometimes. Maybe you’re navigating ADHD in a world that doesn’t always understand your brain, carrying the effects of painful past experiences, or trying to support a struggling child while feeling stretched to your limits. You might be tired of holding everything together and wondering how things could feel different. You don’t have to figure it all out on your own.

I work with adults and teens navigating ADHD, anxiety, depression, complex trauma, and the lasting effects of abuse or unhealthy relationships. I also support parents raising children with ADHD or complex trauma, helping them better understand their child’s behaviour, strengthen connection, and find more calm at home.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that you are not broken. Together we’ll explore how your experiences have shaped you, make sense of the patterns that no longer serve you, and find practical ways to manage stress and difficult emotions. Drawing on trauma-informed therapy, EMDR, DBT, somatic approaches, attachment theory, and Polyvagal Theory, I tailor our work to your needs and move at a pace that feels right for you. We’ll focus on building safety and steadiness before exploring deeper experiences, if and when you’re ready.

Before entering private practice, I spent 17 years supporting adults and youth in social service agencies. I hold a Master of Social Work from the University of Calgary, with a focus on clinical trauma-informed care, and a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Victoria.

I find joy in the simple things: gardening, music, a good cup of coffee, and family adventures. These everyday moments keep me grounded and remind me of the deep value of connection and curiosity.
